Lawrence H. White
About the Author
Lawrence H. White is Professor of Economics at George Mason University and The Freeman contributor. He previously taught at New York University, the University of Georgia, and the University of Missouri–St. Louis. He received his A.B. in Economics from Harvard University, and both his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles. His major areas of research and teaching are monetary theory and policy, economic history, and the history of economic ideas. He is the author of Free Banking in Britain, Competition and Currency, and The Theory of Monetary Institutions. His articles have appeared in theAmerican Economic Review and other leading professional journals. Professor White is the author of The Clash of Economic Ideas: The Great Policy Debates and Experiments of the Last Hundred Years, published in 2012.
