Richard N. Lorenc is Chief Growth Officer of Iron Light, an award-winning strategic marketing firm specializing in helping purpose-driven brands change the world. Lorenc leads business development, business development team and process building, and participates in product and services development.
From 2013-2021 Lorenc served at the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), most recently as executive vice president. With his leadership, FEE reached thousands of students in person and hundreds of millions online annually. Additionally, his emphasis for good design is evidenced by FEE’s corporate headquarters in Atlanta having won a prestigious Graphis Silver Award in 2018. From 2017-2020, Lorenc served as managing director of FEE's successful Youth Education & Audience Research (“YEAR”) project to develop and promote new content and distribution techniques for free-market ideas. Lorenc is involved in a number of civic, educational, and professional development organizations and has served on many boards and advisory committees. He is the chairman of the board of directors of America’s Future, the nation's premier network of liberty-minded young professionals. Lorenc is the board treasurer for MapHabit Action Fund, Inc., which assists in the provision of technology and equipment to individuals suffering from cognitive impairment and age-related and the organizations that support them. In April 2020, Lorenc became a member of the Georgia Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
Lorenc joined The Mont Pelerin Society in 2018, and was a member of the Spring 2019 cohort of the AEI Leadership Network. In 2019, Lorenc won a Buckley Award from America's Future for "his creative and innovative efforts to educate the next generation on free-market values and policy solutions."
A dual American-Polish citizen, Lorenc serves on the advisory board of the Freedom and Entrepreneurship Foundation (Fundacja Wolności i Przedsiębiorczości), which promotes and educates on the free market in Polish society.
Lorenc is graduate of both the Charles Koch Institute's Liberty@Work program and the Atlas Network's Leadership Academy, including the Atlas Think Tank MBA. Further background includes founding a business in Chicago as well as service at the Illinois Policy Institute, America's Future (formerly America's Future Foundation), and Truth in Accounting, where he co-founded the interactive state fiscal database StateDataLab.org, now Data-Z.org.
Lorenc has traveled to over 30 countries and has been published in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Washington Post, and others on topics from constitutional government to LGBT rights to design. He is a graduate of Emory University, where he played the double bass in the Emory University Symphony Orchestra for a record-breaking 16 seasons, and was selected among Emory University's 40 Under Forty for 2018. He lives in the beautiful Lake Claire neighborhood of Atlanta with his husband Colin Caldarera.
