Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ron earned a B.S. in economics from University of Utah, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from University of Connecticut. He specialized in Public Choice Economics, Economics of Poverty, and Economics of Education. Ron was an Assistant Professor for three years at Ohio University-Eastern, and in 2001 joined the economics faculty at BYU-Idaho where he continues to teach. Ron is also a state legislator, serving in his second term in the Idaho House of Representatives. He served on the Idaho Judicial Council, and chaired the Idaho Republican Presidential Caucus in 2012. Ron and his wife, Maria, have four children.
